Neutral Bedroom Aesthetic
The first thing to do when designing your bedroom is to start off with a general aesthetic in mind. The “color” scheme for our neutral bedroom focuses on walnut wood tones with white, cream, black, and brass accents. We achieved this mainly through the furniture we chose for the bedroom.
Wood and White Dresser
The jumping-off point for our design was actually our dresser! I had searched high and low for the perfect dresser, combining wood drawer fronts with a surrounding white casing, and absolutely love the Article Envelo Walnut 6-Drawer Dresser that we ended up purchasing.
Neutral Midcentury Modern Bed
Next up was choosing our bed. Since our dresser, which is a very large piece of furniture in the room, had a lot of wood to it already, I decided on looking for a bed with a textured fabric headboard to create a cozy environment. Also, with our bedroom furniture pieces being from different companies, I wasn’t sure if the walnut wood color would be really different from each other, which would potentially “compete” with the wood look of the dresser.
I really like how our West Elm Wright Upholstered queen sized bed kinda had the best of both worlds, with the wood details framing the fabric headboard on either ends! The walnut color on this bed ended up being really similar to the Article dresser, so it all worked out in the end.
Unique Modern Nightstands
Having narrowed down selections for a dresser and bed already, next up was our nightstands. We considered all of these modern nightstand options and decided to splurge on the CB2 Oberlin nightstands to complete our neutral bedroom look. The wood gives the perfect amount of warmth, while the black drawer fronts offer the perfect dark contrast to the otherwise light and bright space and white walls. What really drew me to this CB2 nightstand was the unique look of its black faux leather drawer fronts, which I had never seen before!

Our master bedroom rug has an ivory base color with a gray tribal pattern. It’s neutral and subtle enough to go with any of our room decor, even if we wanted to change up the look of the master in the future.
Brass Metal Accents
We chose brass as our metal accent for our ceiling light fixture, as well as nightstand lamps. Since the ceiling light fixture was brass, we opted for a black curtain rod to add some contrast.
The brass details on the handles of our nightstand also tie nicely into the other brass accents in our master bedroom.
Cozy Bedroom Vibes
To create a cozy bedroom setting, it’s all about bringing in texture to the room through bedding, throw pillows and throw blankets!
Bedding – We currently use a linen duvet cover that gives a casual, textured, and effortless look to the bed.
Throw Blankets – Can’t go wrong with a super cozy chunky knit blanket or a tasseled blanket . With white bedding, I usually like to add an ivory or cream colored throw blanket at the end of the bed.
Throw Pillows – With the rest of the room having a neutral foundation, throw pillows are where I like to give a pop of color when I feel like changing things up and I love that they’re super easy to change out seasonally. I like to get pillow covers and pillow inserts from Amazon and H&M Home.
For the decor finishing touches, add plants for a pop of greenery and baskets to store pillows and blankets.
Having a cozy neutral bedroom to relax and wind down in at the end of the day is so important and we hope this post gave you a bit of inspiration to create your own aesthetic bedroom!
