WHAT WE USED TO ORGANIZE OUR PANTRY:
- Turntable 10”
- Large Bin 10” x 10” x 6”
- Narrow Bins 10” x 5” x 6”
- 3-Tiered Riser 9.57” x 9.57” x 5”
- Large Insert Bins 9.37” x 4.68” x 2.95”
3 Must-Haves for Pantry Cabinet Organization
MUST HAVE #1: TURNTABLE
The first pantry organization must-have is this turntable – I don’t know how we lived without it before! It was definitely a game changer for our sauce storage! Now we can easily find sauces that were otherwise stuck in the back of the shelf. This turntable is 10 inches in diameter and fits perfectly in our pantry cabinet.
MUST HAVE #2: 3-TIERED RISER
This 3-tiered riser is great to organize cans. It allows you to see all your canned goods so you know exactly what you have on hand.
MUST HAVE #3: CLEAR BINS
In our home, we don’t have a “real” pantry and use upper kitchen cabinet shelves to store pantry items. The main challenge with using upper kitchen cabinets as pantry storage is that a lot of the shelves are not very easy to reach.
This is where bins come in especially handy – to be able to pull out the whole bin and easily find what you need instead of having to remove items that are in the front in order to get to items in the back of the shelves (which is what we did for years before organizing this space properly).
Both wide and narrow bins are equally useful to organize pantry items depending on the size of what you’re storing. We ordered extra of each to test out what would fit best when sorting through our food. We also ordered these large insert bins, which were helpful to subdivide smaller items.
I really like that these bins stack, which makes it very versatile to use around other areas of the house too! I definitely kept the extras from our pantry organization makeover to use for other purposes.
PANTRY ORGANIZERS WE USED FROM WALMART:
These pantry organizers are from The Home Edit collection at Walmart, which we find to be really good quality at a budget-friendly price!
- Large Bin 10” x 10” x 6”
- Narrow Bins 10” x 5” x 6”
- Turntable 10”
- 3-Tiered Riser 9.57” x 9.57” x 5”
- Large Insert Bins 9.37” x 4.68” x 2.95”
PANTRY ORGANIZATION KIT
We bought these pantry organizers individually so we could choose how many of each to buy, but there’s also a really helpful 5-piece pantry organization kit that includes the organization staples you need to get started!
5-Piece Pantry Organization Kit includes:
- 2 Large Bins (10” x 10” x 6”)
- 1 3-Tier Riser (9.57” x 9.57” x 5”)
- 2 Large Insert Bins (9.37” x 4.68” x 2.95”)
TIP: MEASURE BEFORE BUYING ANY ORGANIZERS
The first step to organizing your kitchen pantry is to measure your cabinet space!
When purchasing pantry organizers, the worst thing is when you try it out in your space and it doesn’t fit! Measure ahead of time to make sure all the organization products you buy will fit nicely.
For reference, our upper kitchen cabinet pantry dimensions are:
- Depth – 10.5”
- Width – 18” on either side of the middle divider
ORGANIZATION TIP: BUY MORE THAN YOU NEED!
Always order more than you need! For any organizing project, I always order more than necessary just in case. I would rather return unused products than not finish the project in one sitting.
WHAT WE USED TO ORGANIZE OUR PANTRY:
PANTRY ORGANIZATION TIP: Transfer box contents into bins
Wherever possible, empty out box contents into clear bins so you can easily see how many are left and save pantry space! Below, we consolidated 3 boxes of baby teething crackers into 1 clear narrow bin – now everything is visible, easy to grab, and we can easily tell when we are running low.
PANTRY ORGANIZATION TIP: Place most-used items on the easiest-to-reach shelf
Place most-used items on the easiest-to-reach shelf and work your way up from there.
For our pantry, the turntable made sense to put on the lowest shelf with our sauces so we could easily access the sauces. The can riser would only fit on this shelf since it had the tallest height to accommodate the cans.
